HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

It's that time of the year again, when the lunch crowd gets lesser and traffic gets lighter as I drive to work every morning. With less people in the office, I find myself dressing more casual as we enter the holiday season. This lace printed sheer silk dress is girly and flirty at the same time. It was my first purchase from Shopbop about 2 years ago and I have been hooked since.

I'll be off for a holiday myself, stuffing myself silly with great food, shopping and challenging the ski slopes. In the meantime, have a very merry Xmas. Happy holidays!

THE CHRIS HEMSWORTH DRESS

Sexiness doesn't have to be in your face, and subtle sexiness can be worked into your office attire. Although this vibrant colored dress is of very respectable length, ending below the knee, the sheer silk material hints of what lies underneath as you walk against the light. The slit down the middle flaps open slightly as you walk, revealing some skin and upping the interest factor. Now, you must be wondering why I call this the Chris Hemsworth dress. A few months ago, I ran into Chris Hemsworth in Hong Kong, and took a picture with him while I was wearing this dress. If you're a fan of Chris Hemsworth, below is the picture I took with him (pardon the grainy picture as it was taken with my phone under poor lighting). Have a great week ahead!

PAINT THE TOWN RED

I love bold colors, and I wear bold colors to the office pretty often. To offset the strong color, I'll opt for simple designs and clean cuts. I like the loose fit of this dress, which makes it look more relaxed rather than over the top, which can often happen with bold hues. The subtle pleats at the front and folds at the back of the dress gives it a slightly origami feel. Definitely a conversation starter!

PIXATED

A simple form fitting dress is really a working girl's best friend. Not only is it so easy to wear -  there's no need to wreck your brains over how to match top to bottom, but it's appropriate for all sorts of occasion, whether it's a regular work day, or a day where you have to meet clients or a dinner date. A perfect fit is the key. I had mine altered so that it hugs me nicely without being overly stifling. It doesn't cost much a bring the sides in slightly but that little piece of work makes all the difference. Hang in there for the weekend!

THAT ICONIC GREY SHIFT

One of the most celebrated dresses worn in (relatively) recent times is the grey Narcisco Rodriguez shift dress worn by Kate Moss in Cannes 1997. It was the epitome of minimalism, yet it successfully differentiates Kate Moss from the pack by her choice of an unexpected simple piece. 16 years on, I'm wearing my own grey shift in a shorter length to keep the look fresh. The sweater material lends texture and shape to the dress, and is more forgiving for less than perfect bodies. I kept the color palette muted by opting for accessories in neutral colours. To keep the outfit from looking dull, I took cues from Kate Moss and finished off the look with a slick of orange-red lipstick.

COOKIES AND CREAM

I can probably single handedly count the number of work dresses I have that are flare. Flare dresses are typically more fun, flirty and casual, so I tend to wear them only on Fridays or weekends. This dress is a departure from my usual style, but I couldn't resist the fold details around the collar and arms, as well as the sheer white panels that makes it unique from the rest of the black and white dresses in the market. Being in classic black and white also helps to up the classy factor despite the flare cut. And for all you ladies who tend to be on the skinnier side and often have trouble finding clothes that fit you well, check out The Kooples! You'll be pleasantly surprised by how well their clothes hug the body even if there is hardly any stretch in the material. Good luck!

SOFT ELEGANCE

Pale pink - a timeless color that exudes romance and elegance. Although it is a color that never goes out of style, it is once again brought into the limelight as various designers showcased pale pink in their Spring 2014 collection in NYFW. I bought this dress about 3 years ago from the Max & Co. store in Siena. Its timeless design has accompanied me through these years, and will continue to do so for the years to come. That is the beauty of buying a piece of well made garment in a classic, elegant style. Here, I wore them with my new shoes from Valentino, probably the most feminine and womanly shoes I've ever owned. Have a great week ahead!

BACK TO BLACK

Sale time is the best time to pick up an amazing timeless black dress. I got this classic piece during the sale season in Hong Kong back in June, and it is one of my best purchases on that trip. This dress doesn't scream for attention, but it oozes class with it's subtle tailoring details. Not only can this be worn to work, it can also be easily dressed up for an after work dinner date with a pair of drop earrings and a slick of red lipstick. Simplicity at it's best!

JOIN THE CIRCUS

The Isetan store in Shinjuku Sanchome Tokyo is probably my favorite departmental store in Japan. It is a fashion heaven that stocks all the latest and most desirable goods from all over the world. On one of my trips to Tokyo a couple of years back, I picked up my very first Anna Sui dress from the Isetan store. It is a dress that starts conversations with its elephants, monkeys, clowns and balloons. Funnily, I found these Opening Ceremony shoes on the same trip and have always liked wearing them at the same time as they go so well together, even though I didn't realise how matchy they were when I bought them!
