HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

It's that time of the year again, when the lunch crowd gets lesser and traffic gets lighter as I drive to work every morning. With less people in the office, I find myself dressing more casual as we enter the holiday season. This lace printed sheer silk dress is girly and flirty at the same time. It was my first purchase from Shopbop about 2 years ago and I have been hooked since.

I'll be off for a holiday myself, stuffing myself silly with great food, shopping and challenging the ski slopes. In the meantime, have a very merry Xmas. Happy holidays!

SHINE IN CAMO

I'm not one who frequently go for on trend pieces, but I couldn't help picking up this waffle knit camouflage sweater top while taking advantage of a sale on Shopbop. The obvious way to wear this is casually with denim, but I like to make this more office worthy and more fashion editor-ish by pairing it  with a shiny PVC skirt. The look is instantly more polished. Throw in a skeleton cuff and it ups the grown up grunge factor by yet another notch. The weather is turning chilly even in a tropical country like Singapore, perfect weather for sweater tops like this!

MEET THE MIDI

I never thought I'll want to wear a midi skirt, but seeing how lots of people are rocking it, I succumbed to temptation and got myself one. It wasn't a straightforward decision to make. I was afraid that my petite frame will be swallowed up and lost in the big skirt. However, I took the plunge and ordered a faux leather one online. To save myself from drowning in the big skirt, I paired it with a simple fitted T-shirt with a frill detail to add some fun to the outfit. Finally, I finish off the look with a pair of hidden platform pumps for the extra height! How do you like this look? Have a wonderful week ahead!

THE CHRIS HEMSWORTH DRESS

Sexiness doesn't have to be in your face, and subtle sexiness can be worked into your office attire. Although this vibrant colored dress is of very respectable length, ending below the knee, the sheer silk material hints of what lies underneath as you walk against the light. The slit down the middle flaps open slightly as you walk, revealing some skin and upping the interest factor. Now, you must be wondering why I call this the Chris Hemsworth dress. A few months ago, I ran into Chris Hemsworth in Hong Kong, and took a picture with him while I was wearing this dress. If you're a fan of Chris Hemsworth, below is the picture I took with him (pardon the grainy picture as it was taken with my phone under poor lighting). Have a great week ahead!

A SPLASH OF LEMONADE

This is exactly what this dress and blazer combo reminds me - a splash of refreshing lemonade in the summertime! I love the soft yellow color of this dress, in a very simple cut but with a slight tinge of sexiness. It's perfect for those cocktail or dinner dates where you want to make an impression but not come across as trying too hard. To make it work appropriate, I throw on a white blazer in a similar silk crepe material to keep the whole look light and chirpy. I hope this look brightens up your day!

LANTERN GLOW

There's something about Japanese designers. They're almost anti-trend, and because of that, their designs are timeless. Their creations may not always be the most wearable, or the most flattering, but if you are looking for inventive cuts and styles, you won't be disappointed by them. Every time I visit Japan, I will pop by Pleats Please by Issey Miyake. I've noticed that in Japan, the Pleats Please line is usually worn by the more mature ladies. It thus feels slightly awkward to enter a Pleats Please store, but I know that I can almost always find something I like there. Furthermore, Pleats Please is priced at a lower level than the main line, so it's also healthier for my wallet! It's ultimately up to an individual to bring out the beauty of a piece of clothing, don't you think so? I love the vibrant and fiery colors of this Pleats Please top, not to mention the unique cutting that adds an architectural feel to it. The high waisted pants are from Yohji Yamamoto, and in my opinion, quite simply a classic piece.

Last but not least, Happy Mid Autumn Festival!

SOFT ELEGANCE

Pale pink - a timeless color that exudes romance and elegance. Although it is a color that never goes out of style, it is once again brought into the limelight as various designers showcased pale pink in their Spring 2014 collection in NYFW. I bought this dress about 3 years ago from the Max & Co. store in Siena. Its timeless design has accompanied me through these years, and will continue to do so for the years to come. That is the beauty of buying a piece of well made garment in a classic, elegant style. Here, I wore them with my new shoes from Valentino, probably the most feminine and womanly shoes I've ever owned. Have a great week ahead!

JOIN THE CIRCUS

The Isetan store in Shinjuku Sanchome Tokyo is probably my favorite departmental store in Japan. It is a fashion heaven that stocks all the latest and most desirable goods from all over the world. On one of my trips to Tokyo a couple of years back, I picked up my very first Anna Sui dress from the Isetan store. It is a dress that starts conversations with its elephants, monkeys, clowns and balloons. Funnily, I found these Opening Ceremony shoes on the same trip and have always liked wearing them at the same time as they go so well together, even though I didn't realise how matchy they were when I bought them!

SHEER ABSTRACT

In this scorching hot weather, I naturally reached out for a light breezy dress. I've had this dress for a number of years but I never get sick of it. It's extremely comfortable and easy to wear, and yet has that bit of edginess that commands a second look. The ruching and unique tailoring details, together with the sheer fabric, brings about a very interesting dimensional effect to the piece. I'll definitely still be wearing this in the years to come!
