WRITE ME A LETTER

White tops are one of the most versatile pieces to have - they go pretty much with everything. I like to look for details that are unusual, like this piece I'm wearing from CK. It has a cape-like shape to it, together with an interesting chinese collar. The back is decorated with origami-like folds that reminds one of a letter. With all those details in the top, I finish off the look with a pair of simple berry colored pants to add a pop of color.

WHAT'S UP YOUR SLEEVES

It should be obvious by now that I'm attracted more to simpler styles with interesting details. When I found this blouse on the racks, I was immediately won over by the fur prints on the big lamp shaped sleeves. I was probably doubtful that it will look good on me, as the sleeves are huge and my limbs are really skinny. However, that did not deter me from trying it on and I'm actually quite pleased with how it looks, and it's oh so comfortable too! To balance the oversized top, I wore it with a pair of skinny pants and kept the palette muted so as to keep the focus on the sleeves, but completed the look with these jewel crusted sandals which look dangerous but are in fact super soft and wearable. Perfect for days when you have to run about in humid weather!

A SPLASH OF LEMONADE

This is exactly what this dress and blazer combo reminds me - a splash of refreshing lemonade in the summertime! I love the soft yellow color of this dress, in a very simple cut but with a slight tinge of sexiness. It's perfect for those cocktail or dinner dates where you want to make an impression but not come across as trying too hard. To make it work appropriate, I throw on a white blazer in a similar silk crepe material to keep the whole look light and chirpy. I hope this look brightens up your day!

RUFFLES

A ruffle top is an easy way to inject femininity into an outfit. If you don't like an overly girly look, opt for more basic colors like white, black and blue, just like I did with this piece. The thick shoulder straps keep the top from looking too sexy for work, and you can always throw over a jacket or cardigan if you need to look more formal. I love how it adds some drama to the ensemble without looking over the top. Perfect for those days where you have a special dinner to attend after work!

PAINT THE TOWN RED

I love bold colors, and I wear bold colors to the office pretty often. To offset the strong color, I'll opt for simple designs and clean cuts. I like the loose fit of this dress, which makes it look more relaxed rather than over the top, which can often happen with bold hues. The subtle pleats at the front and folds at the back of the dress gives it a slightly origami feel. Definitely a conversation starter!

GOOD MORNING SUNSHINE

Yellow is such a happy color to wear. Just because it's a vibrant color, that doesn't necessarily mean that it's more difficult to wear. Previously, I went a bit more adventurous by pairing it with cyan pants to create an unexpected fresh look. For the more conservative, yellow also looks great with neutrals like grey and white. Since the color is the focus of the outfit, and the top already has some folds to add dimension, I opted for a grey jersey knit skirt with subtle ruching and draping to keep the look clean yet interesting. Complete the outfit with grey ponyhair pumps and a white python bag with grey details, and you get a look that's fresh and sophisticated at the same time. Sunshine for the week ahead!

THE SCARF TOP

I always love a good blue. When I first saw this top, I fell in love with it. Not only because the color is so beautiful, it's so effortlessly classy as well. There's basically a scarf attached to the collar, and it's totally up to you how you want to wear it. No matter how you choose to wrap it around your neck, the look is still fluid and chic. For this look, I decided to keep the rest of my outfit in warm neutral colors, jazzing it up alittle with the studded heels. This is one look I believe will still look good a few years down the road, and hence the very pieces I'm happy to invest in. Have a great week ahead!

THAT ICONIC GREY SHIFT

One of the most celebrated dresses worn in (relatively) recent times is the grey Narcisco Rodriguez shift dress worn by Kate Moss in Cannes 1997. It was the epitome of minimalism, yet it successfully differentiates Kate Moss from the pack by her choice of an unexpected simple piece. 16 years on, I'm wearing my own grey shift in a shorter length to keep the look fresh. The sweater material lends texture and shape to the dress, and is more forgiving for less than perfect bodies. I kept the color palette muted by opting for accessories in neutral colours. To keep the outfit from looking dull, I took cues from Kate Moss and finished off the look with a slick of orange-red lipstick.

STAINED GLASS DOME

Can you guess what the print on this top is? Does it look familiar, yet you can't say what exactly it is? It's the steel and stained glass dome of Galeries Lafayette! This top was created by Agnes B. to celebrate 100 years since the inauguration of the Paris store in October 1912. I chanced upon this top in Tokyo earlier this year and was instantly drawn to its beautiful prints and colors. The shape of the blouse reminds me of a butterfly, which makes it even more special. Drop me a comment if you like this top too!
